Our affiliation with HDMI began in 2005, when Kordz became an early Adopter of the technology in a long-term commitment to compliance and integrity. Nearly a decade on and we have amongst our ranks industry association level HDMI Subject Matter Experts, Technology Council and Working Group members, internationally published authors of industry articles and white papers, and course authors and certified instructors. The Director of Kordz USA, Inc is the former Director of Compliance for HDMI Licensing. We continue to consult and instruct on all matters HDMI and related topics, as well as developing engineered products for best performance, interoperability and longevity.
Kordz has twice participated as an invited exhibitor on the HDMI Techzone booth at CES, Las Vegas, the first of which was the inaugural year in 2008. We were the only specialist cable brand in the world to do so. Co-exhibitors that same year included Quantum Data, for whom we’re now an international partner, Redmere Technology (later Spectra7), which we deploy in our long length PRS series cables, and high speed signalling engineers whom later went on to found phaseHD, Inc, the world’s leading adaptable technology for long length HDMI.
This is a highly valued affiliation for us, and we are proud to call the HDMI team friends as well as colleagues.
Comprised of Hitachi, Panasonic Corporation, Royal Philips Electronics, Silicon Image, Sony Corporation, Technicolor S.A. (formerly known as Thomson) and Toshiba Corporation, the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Founders have joined together to define a next-generation digital interface specification for consumer electronics products. The HDMI Specification is also supported by major motion picture producers, as well as satellite and cable companies.
Adopted by over 1,200 of the largest and most innovative consumer electronics and PC manufacturers worldwide, the HDMI Specification combines uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio, and data in a single digital interface to provide crystal-clear digital quality over a single cable. With over 2B HDMI-enabled devices having shipped since 2003, HDMI technology has extended into an increasingly wide array of devices, applications, and industries, including cell phones, tablets, automobiles and commercial applications such digital signage and airport installations.
HDMI Licensing, LLC is the licensing agent responsible for administering the licensing of the HDMI Specification, promoting HDMI technology and providing education on the benefits of the HDMI interface to retailers and consumers.
HDMI Forum, Inc, is a nonprofit, mutual benefit corporation established in 2011 by the HDMI Founders whose purpose is to foster broader industry participation in the development of future versions of the HDMI Specification. Over 70 of the largest PC, CE and semiconductor companies have become Members of the HDMI Forum.
Late 2013 saw the release of their first formal publication, being the HDMI 2.0 specification. This was introduced as an addendum to run concurrent to the HDMI 1.4a. Existing Adopters of HDMI are eligible to elevate their status to 2.0 Adopters by signing an addendum document and accepting the compliance conditions within.
Kordz was the first company in the world external to the HDMI forum to become an official adopter of 2.0.
